PatchWall UI on Mi TVs Add Dedicated Kids Mode for Age-Relevant Content

With the newest update to its PatchWall Android TV interface, Xiaomi introduced a ‘Kids Mode‘ that brings along plenty of features to keep children safe while trying to access programs on various streaming services. A posted tweet just one or two of hours earlier, the official Mi TV Twitter account in India said that the new features include:

  • Parental Lock
  • Safe Universal Search
  • Free Educational Content
  • Smart Curation and
  • Pop-Out Banner Collections

As can be seen from the short video in the embedded tweet, the new mode will work as a secondary account on the TV for all practical purposes. It will offer what the corporate describes as ‘age-relevant content’, including movies, educational shows, and other curated ‘Mi Lists’ across all apps. The main account, with unrestricted content, is going to be protected by a four-digit passcode, and authorized users can switch to that account at any time.

According to Xiaomi, the PatchWall 3.0 update has been unrolled to most of its Mi TV models in India, but with one notable exception. The Mi TV 4 55-inch model apparently isn’t eligible to induce the new software because, in step with the company, its “unique design” doesn’t support the necessities for Android TV codecs.

While owners of the Mi TV 4 55″ are up-in-arms over the turn of events, Xiaomi is offering a Rs. 1,000 discount on its Mi Box 4K to all or any users of the now-deprecated model. The Mi Box 4K was launched in India earlier this year and is currently available for purchase on the company’s official website for Rs. 3,499, but with the discount, Mi TV 4 55″ owners are going to be able to purchase it for Rs. 2,499 only.

If you own the aforementioned model, You could explore more details about the discount offer on the official Xiaomi website.

galaxy tab active 3

There are only a couple of companies that sell Android tablets in 2020. The notable two brands are Samsung and Huawei. The South Korean tech giant had only recently launched Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+ as its flagship tablet devices. Now, it seems the corporate will soon release Galaxy Tab Active 3 whose entire specs are now leaked.

The upcoming Galaxy Tab Active 3 will be the successor to Galaxy Tab Active 2 from late 2017. Samsung’s Active series of tablets are targeted at industries, hence the long interval of 3 years between the launch of every new model. For those unaware, the primary one in the series was unveiled back in December 2014.

That said, the 2020 model was first spotted on Geekbench with model number SM-T575 in July powered by Exynos 9810 paired with 4GB RAM and Android 10 operating system. Just in case you’re wondering, this chipset made its debut inside Galaxy S9 in 2018.

Apple Online Store in India: 7 Advantages to Consumers

Published

on

Did you know Apple has had a presence in India for over 20 years? after all that time, the corporate is finally launching its online store in India on September 23. However, thus far we’ve been purchasing Apple devices through e-commerce websites and authorized resellers in brick and mortar stores. So why does it matter that Apple will soon have an authorized retail presence within the country? Well, let’s take a glance at the benefits offered by an authorized Apple online store as compared to an e-commerce website, or an offline reseller.

1. User Experience and Interface

If Apple’s online store for the US is any indication, the online store in India will offer an extremely nice interface and experience. You don’t need to look for products nearly as much as you’d on, say, Amazon. Simply head over to the merchandise category you’re searching for, and begin configuring your device per your needs. Personally, that sounds great to me.

Speaking of not having to look for products, one of the most important issues with buying Apple devices (or the other devices, actually) online is the proven fact that there are just way too many listings for the same device from different sellers, repeatedly at different prices. Plus, there are nearly always some fake listings, or knockoff products listed to make them look real.

2. Fully Configure Your Device

This is very important to me, and I suppose plenty of shoppers. While Apple has offered configuration options within the US and other countries where it’s its retail presence for years, India has been left behind.

Apple Online Store in India

This is an especially big issue if you’re buying a MacBook or an iMac. You can only buy pre-configured models of these devices in India. This suggests even if Apple probably sells a configuration more suited to your needs, chances are you wouldn’t find it in India.

However, with the Apple online store, the corporate is bringing configuration options to India also. So the next time you purchase a brand new Mac, you’ll be able to configure it along with your preferred amount of RAM and storage.

3. Customise Your Device with Engraving

Apple Online Store in India

Apple also will offer to engrave in India now. So, you’ll be able to get text or emoji engravings on your AirPods, iPad, or Apple Pencil. In fact, on AirPods, you might get text engravings in English, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.

4. Better Trade-in Value

Also offered on the official Apple Store are trade-ins for eligible products. This isn’t something new, exactly. As such, you could get exchange offers on Amazon and Flipkart. However, with Apple’s trade-in, you always get a far better deal if you’re exchanging an Apple product for a brand new Apple product.

For example, I checked on the US Apple Store what my MacBook Pro would fetch me in trade-in for a new 13-inch MacBook Pro. Turns out, $410. That’s quite a lot. In India, on Amazon, I’m getting ₹16,000 for it. Now i know, the conversion makes a difference, after all, we can’t make certain what trade-in Apple will offer on its Indian online store, but chances are it will be good. Or at the very least, you may have more options to seem at. Either way, it’s a win-win for us.

(Note: Once the Apple Store launches in India, I will check on this and update the article.)

5. Get Student Discounts Easily

Buying an Apple device as a student entitles you to a student discount. In most cases in India, you could only avail of this at a physical retail store. However, with Apple’s online store, you may be able to apply for a student discount and acquire your preferred Apple devices at a discounted rate.

This applies to current students, their parents, lecturers, and staff. So the likelihood is that you’ll be able to get a pleasant discount anyway.

6. Extend Your Warranty with AppleCare+

I’m sure you’re all aware of Apple Care. It’s the warranty that comes with your Apple device. However, it doesn’t cover things like accidental damage and believe me, you may need it at some point in your device’s life. Fortunately, Apple provides Apple Care+ for an extra price which covers accidental damage and extends your warranty to 3 years (two years in India).

Up so far, you couldn’t get Apple Care+ in India. However, you’ll now directly buy Apple Care+ when you shop for your next Apple device from the official online store.

It’s optional, obviously, but it’s usually recommended to urge it so you don’t end up paying way too much money for an accidental crack on your screen or something of that kind.

7. More Trustworthy than Online Sellers

Remember how I acknowledged that plenty of times listings on online websites are of fake products, and sometimes from fraudulent sellers? Heck, you need to remember all those stories about people buying iPhones or other devices and getting bricks and bars of soaps in their packages, right?

With the official Apple store, you wouldn’t get to worry about that. After all, you’re buying directly from the brand that makes the product, and it doesn’t depend upon third-party resellers to sell the product to you anymore. This means you’ll be able to shop online with more confidence, which is great.

Apple’s Official Online Store will Make Buying Apple Products Easier and Safer

While Apple’s online store is currently not live in India, these are the advantages that Apple itself claims it’ll offer in the country, plus, some of these opinions are based on how the US online store works. Obviously, once the online store officially launches on September 23, I will be taking an honest check out how it works and all the options it offers and updating this data accordingly, so make sure you check back for more details.

That said, it’s certain that an authorized online store will certainly make it easier to buy for Apple products in India. As customers, we’ll get more choices, more configuration options, and in fact, customization options also, with engraving choices and gift wrapping.

So, are you excited about Apple’s official entry into the retail space in India? allow us to know within the comments.

Google’s next Chromecast shows full remote with dedicated Netflix and YouTube buttons

Google new chromecast

We might have just gotten our in-depth look yet at the long-rumored new Chromecast and its dedicated remote, because of what appears to be leaked marketing renders posted by WinFuture. We already know Google plans to launch hardware, including a brand new Chromecast, at its September 30th event, so these renders might be showing off a product Google is extremely on the brink of revealing.

The look of the new Chromecast shouldn’t be much of a surprise if you’ve been following other leaks; it appears to be a plastic oval HDMI dongle that’s slightly larger than the circular Chromecast devices we’re wont to. But what’s more interesting from these renders is the remote. We’ve already seen leaks of that, and while these new renders aren’t drastically different, they might reveal a revised button layout, including dedicated buttons for Netflix and YouTube.

The new Chromecast will reportedly run Android TV, though that OS is rumored to be rebranded to Google TV alongside the discharge of the new device. (You might remember that Google once made a TV platform called Google TV, which is dumped in favor of Android TV. I suppose the old will become new again.)

The new Chromecast is additionally rumored to cost $49.99 and come in a minimum of three colors, As per the 9to5Google — “summer melon” (pink), “rock candy” (gray — perhaps the color shown in WinFuture’s leaked images), and “summer blue.”

Google has openly said it’ll launch a brand new smart speaker at its September 30th event. We have already got a pretty good idea what that may appear as if — Google shared an official photo and video of the device back in July, and WinFuture today shared what appears to be leaked marketing renders of the speaker in “Charcoal” (black) and “Chalk” (white). Google also says it’ll boast new Pixels on September 30th, which can likely include the already-revealed flagship Pixel 5 that the corporate detailed early last month when it launched its cheaper Pixel 4A.
