Wyze cam outdoor

Wyze’s first outdoor camera — the appropriately titled Wyze Cam Outdoor — is a battery-powered, water-resistant, Wi-Fi security camera designed to be used outside. It is priced at $49.99 for a starter bundle, including the camera and a base station, or $39.99 for every additional camera. There’s also an offline travel mode that enables the Cam Outdoor to watch your hotel room, For instance. The camera is out there in what Wyze is calling “early access” starting today with deliveries expected in mid-July. Widespread availability is predicted to follow in early August.

At $49.99, the Wyze Cam Outdoor could be an affordable outdoor camera for you, but its specs are comparable to costlier competitors like Amazon’s $99 Blink XT2. It records in 1080p, features an advertised battery backup up to 6 months, and has a speaker and microphone for two-way audio just in case you would like to talk to someone through the camera. Like Wyze’s other cameras, the Wyze Cam Outdoor can record to microSD cards or record to the cloud continuously without a paid subscription. With the free cloud-recording version, the camera records for up to 12 seconds when it detects motion, and these clips are stored within the cloud for up to 14 days. There is also a cool-down period that’s adjustable between one, three, and five minutes.

Shortly after launch, Wyze claims that the camera will be compatible with its paid subscription, available for $1.49 per camera, per month. that may remove the 12-second recording restriction and cool-down period, but the 14-day limit remains.

In normal use, the camera connects to the internet via its base station (which connects to your home router via Ethernet) to record, but there’s also an offline travel mode where an internet connection and base station isn’t required. In this mode, the camera emits a Wi-Fi hotspot, which your phone can connect with.

Since it’s battery-powered, the Wyze Cam Outdoor is totally wire-free. It attaches magnetically to its stand, which is then screwed into a wall or… tree. With typical use, Wyze claims the camera’s battery should last between 3 and 6 months, and it charges over Micro USB. The battery must allow the camera to record continuously to a microSD card for about 10 hours, Wyze says.

Unfortunately, just like the rest of Wyze’s camera lineup, the Wyze Cam Outdoor doesn’t feature person detection for now. The company was forced to get rid of the feature back in January after the AI company it partnered with, Xnor.ai, was acquired by Apple. Wyze aiming to exchange the functionality with an in-house version to be released later this year. It didn’t have any news to announce as a part of the launch today, but it promised to share more details soon.

The Wyze Cam Outdoor is just one of the products that the corporate announced was in development back in February. as well as the outdoor camera and its in-house person-detection feature, Wyze claimed that it’s also engaged on the Wyze Band, a wearable smart home assistant and activity tracker, and the Wyze Scale, a health-focused smart scale.

The Google Home Smart Speaker was announced almost four years back. With the launch of the smart home products like the Google Home Max, Home Mini, and Nest Mini, this portfolio of the corporate has expanded. Now, it’s like Google is in plans to launch another smart speaker.

A fresh leak hinted by a Twitter-based tipster hinted that the upcoming smart speaker might be the successor to the initial Nest smart speaker. The leaked images show that it might be launched under the Nest brand and has been spotted on the Japanese Wireless Standards website.

Google Nest Smart Speaker First Look

The upcoming speaker is believed to be designed to stand upright on a side with the Google logo. The speaker appears to be wrapped in a similar fabric of chalk shade just like the other Google smart speakers. It appears to flaunt a mute button at the top and Google G logo closer to the bottom. And, the bottom right corner appears to feature a hole for the power adapter. Furthermore, the pictures show that the smart speaker could bundle a 30W adapter alongside a barrel mouth plug rather than a USB Type-C connector.

The upcoming Google Nest smart speaker is touted to be an interactive media streaming device, as per the leaked documentation. It appears to feature a length of 220mm, which can make it taller than that of the Google Home Max. Also, it’s believed to feature WiFi and Bluetooth.

What we expect

As of now, there’s no word regarding when we can expect the Google smart speaker could see the light of the day. But we will expect it to make its way into the market during the holidays. Until there’s an official confirmation regarding the upcoming smart speaker from Google with a unique design as seen here, we cannot come to any conclusion.
